Foveo gives your funeral home control over:
- How many days online guests have access to view a livestream broadcast recording; and
- Which version of the recording guests may access (original or modified audio).
This article explains each stage of a livestream recording’s availability, from the end of the live broadcast through to long-term archiving.
Recording Access at a Glance
| Audience | How long is the recording available? | What happens to the recording afterward? |
|---|---|---|

| Family Account Holder | 90 days after the broadcast | The recording is transferred to Foveo’s long-term archive |
| Funeral Home | 90 days after the broadcast | The recording is transferred to Foveo’s long-term archive |

Note: The broadcast date is the first day of both the 30-day Guest Access period and the 90-day Family Account Access period.
1. How to Set the Guest Access Period
Your funeral home can decide how long after a live broadcast online guests can view the recording. The maximum Guest Access period is set to 30 days (default). This setting applies to all recordings. Your funeral home may choose to reduce its default Guest Access period.
To verify or change your Guest Access period:
- Sign in to Foveo.app using your Funeral Home Admin account.
- In the left menu, select Account.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll down to locate the Recordings section.
- Select the number of days that recordings should remain available to guests (up to 30 days maximum).
- Save your changes.
Note: This setting will change the default Guest Access period for your funeral home. If a specific family or situation requires a different access period for a particular recording, please contact Foveo's DirectorCare™ Team at directorcare@foveo.org.
2. How to Select the Recording Version available to Guests
Your funeral home can decide which version of a livestream broadcast recording it makes automatically available for guests to view during the Guest Access period.
There are two options:
- Original Recording: The original recording with all audio and music captured during the service.
- Modified Audio: A modified version of the recording in which music selections are muted.
The Modified Audio version helps funeral homes manage considerations and potential obligations associated with copyrighted music captured in the recording. Learn more about music copyright and funeral livestreaming.
To select your funeral home’s default Recording Version:
- Sign in to Foveo.app using a Funeral Home Admin account.
- In the left menu, select Account.
- Select Settings.
- Locate the Recordings section.
- Select Original Recording or Modified Audio (Music Muted).
- Save your changes.
This setting determines which version is offered by default to guests for viewing through your the funeral home’s website. This will not prevent the Family Account Holder or your funeral home from downloading the Original Recording during the 90-day access period.
Note: If a different Recording Version is required for a particular service, navigate in Foveo to the RECORDING panel (right side of screen when in left menu Streams > List view) to select the other available version of the recording, then click Save.
3. Guest Access to Livestream Broadcast Recordings
A. Immediately after the Broadcast Ends
Immediately after a livestream ends, the recording must be processed before it can be viewed on demand. Processing generally takes 20 minutes; however, times can vary depending on the length of the broadcast and the processing required. During this period, guests who attempt to access the recording will see the following message:
The livestream broadcast has ended.
Once processed, the recording will be available here.

B. After Guest Access expires
Once the Guest Access period selected by the funeral home has ended, the recording is no longer available to registered guests through the funeral home’s website, Foveo Broadcast Page or Tukios obituary page.
Guests who return to the page will see the following message:
Guest access to the broadcast recording has expired.
Questions? Please contact wecare@foveo.org.
Expired Guest Access does not mean the recording has been deleted. The designated Family Account Holder and authorized funeral home staff may continue to view and/or download it through Foveo until the end of the 90-day period.

Guests who wish to obtain viewing access after the guest access period has expired may view the Guest Access page and consider whether they will complete a formal request which Foveo will direct to your funeral home to be coordinated with the next of kin.
4. Family Account Access for 90 Days
The Family Account Holder is the person designated when the livestream is first scheduled. This is typically the next of kin or another family representative.
The Family Account Holder and authorized funeral-home users can view and download the recording in Foveo for 90 days following the broadcast.
To download a recording, the Family Account Holder should:
- Sign in to Foveo.app using the Family Account username and password provided by email.
- Open the livestream details.
- Locate the recording.
- Select Download beneath the video player.
- Save the MP4 file to a computer, external drive or secure cloud-storage account.
We strongly recommend that families download and safely preserve their own copy during this 90-day period.
For additional instructions, see How to View or Download a Recording.
5. Automatic Messages Sent Before a Recording is Archived
Foveo automatically sends email messages to the designated Family Account Holder during their 90-day access period. The funeral home’s Foveo Admin also receives the applicable archive reminder messages so staff know when the family’s routine access is approaching its end.

This message includes:

Important: These emails can only be delivered if the correct name and email address for the Family Account Holder were entered when the livestream was scheduled. Funeral homes should confirm this information before saving each new livestream.
6. What Happens After 90 Days?
At the end of the 90-day access period, the recording is transferred to Foveo’s long-term archive. It will no longer be routinely accessible through the Family Account or funeral-home account.
Archiving does not mean the recording has been deleted. It means Foveo must retrieve and transfer it by special request.
7. How to Request an Archived Recording
An archived recording may be requested by the Family Account Holder or a representative of the funeral home acting on behalf of the family.
Please send the request to directorcare@foveo.org and include the:
- Name of the deceased;
- Name of the funeral home (and location);
- Date of the livestream;
- The requester’s name and relationship to the family or funeral home; and
- The email address to which retrieval instructions should be sent.
There is currently no charge to retrieve an archived recording. Foveo may review this policy in the future if the volume or administrative demands associated with archived-recording requests become unmanageable. Any future change will be communicated before it takes effect.
Archived-recording retrieval is not immediate and can take up to 10 business days to complete. Families should, therefore, download and safely preserve a personal copy of the recording during their 90-day access period whenever possible.
Foveo’s retrievable archive includes livestream recordings captured since September 2023.
Recordings made before September 2023 are not available.
