What Changed in this Release?
The new DirectorView™ release includes improvements in three important areas:
1. More Consistent Audio Performance
The release addresses reported instances of intermittent audio affecting some devices. The new version is intended to provide more consistent audio transmission and capture during livestream broadcasts.
2. Improved Offline Recording Uploads
DirectorView™ allows a funeral home to record a ceremony locally on the device (offline) when a dependable internet connection is unavailable. The completed recording can then be uploaded to Foveo when the device has a suitable connection. This release addresses reported issues related to interruptions when uploading Offline Recordings, improving the ease of use of this important safeguard.
3. General Performance and Reliability Improvements
The release also includes new features and technical improvements to support a more responsive user experience and reliable operation across all supported Android and Apple devices.
What Makes DirectorView™ Different?
DirectorView™ is more than a mobile streaming-camera app. It was co-designed with funeral professionals, specifically to simplify the livestreaming process. DirectorView™ is available for supported Android phones and tablets, iPhones, and iPads. Its cross-platform flexibility is unique and allows all funeral homes to use mobile equipment exclusively or enhance the broadcast experience by moving from a fixed chapel camera to a mobile camera at graveside without guests needing to leave the livestream or find a second link.
This latest release now brings the entire broadcast workflow together in one, simple mobile application—from scheduling a livestream or ID Session™ to connecting the camera, checking the audio and internet connection, managing the broadcast, and recording offline when livestreaming is not possible.
1. New: Schedule Livestreams and ID Sessions™ Directly in DirectorView™
With the latest release, authorized Camera users can now schedule livestreams and ID Sessions™ directly within the DirectorView™ app.
From the same phone or tablet, funeral-home staff can:
- Schedule a new livestream
- Schedule a new ID Session™
- Review upcoming services
- Select the appropriate service
- Connect the camera
- Check the audio and internet connection
- Begin and manage the broadcast
Staff no longer need to sign in to Foveo.app on a separate computer or mobile device to arrange a new livestream. Streams can be scheduled directly in DirectorView™, and the same device can then be used to stream the service or session.
This is especially helpful when responding to a last-minute request, preparing for an off-site ceremony, or setting up equipment away from the funeral home. By bringing scheduling and broadcasting together in one app, DirectorView™ provides funeral professionals with a faster, simpler way to manage the complete livestreaming process wherever they are.
2. Turn any Mobile Device into a Livestreaming Camera
DirectorView™ can turn any supported smartphone or tablet into an easy-to-use mobile livestream camera. This gives funeral homes the flexibility to broadcast from:
- Funeral home chapels
- Churches and places of worship
- Cemeteries and graveside
- Celebration-of-life venues
- Private residences
- Other locations where permanent camera equipment is unavailable
After signing in as a Camera user, staff can select the scheduled service, connect the camera, confirm the audio and video connection, and begin the broadcast directly from the device display.
3. Monitor and Control Broadcasts Remotely
One of DirectorView™’s most distinctive capabilities is the ability to separate the camera from the person managing the broadcast. While one mobile device is positioned as the livestreaming camera, a funeral director can use DirectorView™ on another phone or tablet to:
- Monitor the livestream remotely
- Start the scheduled broadcast
- Pause and resume the broadcast when appropriate
- End the broadcast
- Confirm that the service is being transmitted properly
This allows a funeral director to supervise the livestream discreetly without remaining beside the camera throughout the ceremony. In fact, the mobile camera can be positioned and tested well before the service, and then the broadcast can be controlled and monitored from elsewhere in the building or from an entirely different location.
4. Confirm Camera and Mics are Ready Before the Service
DirectorView™ helps staff confirm that their camera, audio, and internet connection are ready to stream before the ceremony begins.
The camera display now includes a live audio indicator, providing visible confirmation that sound is being transmitted via livestream. Staff can also check the camera image and run an internet-speed test to determine whether the available connection is suitable for livestreaming.
After tapping Connect Camera, these practical checks help staff identify camera, audio, or connection concerns before guests begin watching, allowing time to select Record Offline if the internet connection proves unreliable.
5. Record Offline When Livestreaming is not Practical
Some churches, cemeteries, or remote venues may not have a dependable internet connection that your mobile livestream camera can use. DirectorView™’s Offline Recording feature provides an essential alternative.
Instead of risking an interrupted livestream, staff can record the ceremony directly to their mobile camera device. Once a suitable internet connection becomes available, the recording can be uploaded to Foveo so the family and invited guests can watch it afterward.
The latest release provides faster, direct uploading of Offline Recordings, making it easier to deliver the recorded ceremony sooner after leaving the venue.
Update Every DirectorView™ Device Today
Every Android phone, iPhone, and iPad used with DirectorView™ should be updated to the latest release.
