We understand livestreaming is an important way you help families to include others who cannot attend a funeral personally. Broadcast recordings are an important part of your service to them.
Foveo offers important recording management and access control features. Each is designed to give you maximum control over how long recordings remain available to guests, to provide families with ample time to download a personal copy, and to give you simple options for managing recordings that contain copyrighted music.
Guest Access to Recordings
Effective August 24, 2026, guest access to recordings through your funeral home’s website or obituary or broadcast pages will be limited to a maximum of 30 days following the broadcast. Your funeral home will be able to select a shorter access period based on its individual policies and preferences.
Family Access to Recordings
Family Account holders and funeral directors will be able to view and download recordings for 90 days following a broadcast. Before a recording is archived, Family Account holders will receive email reminders encouraging them to download a personal copy for their family history.
After 90 days, recordings will be archived. A copy of any archived recording can be obtained by special request. This process will apply to all recordings in Foveo's archive, which includes livestreams captured since September 2023. Recordings made before September 2023 are not available.
Recording Format Options
Effective September 1, 2026, your funeral home will be able to select one of two Recording Types that will be accessible for guests to view through its website. The two types are: the original full-audio recording and a new modified-audio version of the recording (with music selections muted).
Why We Made These Changes
For years, Foveo has maintained anytime access to every livestream recording. The need for enhanced access controls to manage livestream recordings emerged as a recent topic of interest and concern among funeral business owners. Our new access and format controls give funeral homes increased flexibility to manage recordings in the way that works for them. Visit our website to learn more about music copyright considerations related to funeral livestreaming.
Foveo remains committed to helping funeral professionals provide simple, refined online experiences for the families they serve and their online guests. That’s why we upgraded our tools for funeral professionals to better manage livestream broadcast recordings.
If you have questions about these changes please review the detailed Q & A information below or contact our DirectorCare team (directorcare@foveo.org).
