When it comes to managing your broadcast recordings, Foveo gives you flexibility and control over:
- Which version of the recording they can watch (original or modified audio); and
- How many days online guests have access to it.
1. Selecting a Recording Version for Guest Access
Your funeral home can decide which version of a livestream broadcast recording it wishes to make automatically available to guests for viewing during the Guest Access period.
There are two options:
- Original Recording: The original recording with all audio and music captured during the service.
- Modified Audio (default setting): A modified version of the recording in which music selections are muted.
The Modified Audio version helps your funeral home manage considerations and potential obligations associated with copyrighted music captured in the recording. Learn more about music copyright and funeral livestreaming.
To update your funeral home’s default Recording Version:
- Sign in to Foveo.app using a Funeral Home Admin account.
- In the left menu, select Account.
- Select Settings.
- Locate the Recordings section (bottom of page).
- Select Original Recording or Modified Audio (Music Muted).
- Save your changes.
This setting determines which version is offered by default to guests for viewing through your the funeral home’s website. This will not prevent the Family Account Holder or your funeral home from downloading the Original Recording during the 90-day access period.
Note: If a different Recording Version is required for a particular service, navigate in Foveo to the RECORDING panel (right side of screen when in left menu Streams > List view) to select the other available version of the recording, then click Save.
2. Guest and Family Access Periods
Your funeral home can decide how long online guests have access to a livestream broadcast recording.
Access Periods at a Glance
| Audience | How long is the recording available? | What happens to the recording afterward? |
|---|---|---|
| Online Guests | 30 days after the broadcast (maximum) | The recording is no longer available to view through funeral home website, private broadcast page, or the obituary page. |
| Family Account Holder | 90 days after the broadcast | The recording is transferred to Foveo’s long-term archive |
| Funeral Home | 90 days after the broadcast | The recording is transferred to Foveo’s long-term archive |
| All | After the 90-day period | Foveo retrieves and transfers a copy by special request |
Note: The broadcast date is counted as the first day of all access periods.
A. The Guest Access Period
By default, the Guest Access period for your funeral home's recordings is set to the maximum 30 days. This setting applies to all recordings. However, your funeral home may choose to reduce the Guest Access Period for all recordings. Here's how:
- Sign in to Foveo.app using your Funeral Home Admin account.
- In the left menu, select Account > Settings.
- Scroll down to locate the Recordings section.
- Select the number of days broadcast recordings should remain accessible to guests.
- Save your changes.
Note: If a specific family or situation requires a different access period for a particular recording, the Guest Access Period may be changed for individual recordings (up to a maximum of 30 days). Please contact Foveo's DirectorCare™ Team at directorcare@foveo.org.
B. About the Family Access Period
The Family Account Holder and authorized funeral-home users can view and download the recording in Foveo for 90 days following the broadcast. The Family Account Holder is the person designated when the livestream is first scheduled. This is typically the next of kin or another family representative.
To download a recording, the Family Account Holder should:
- Sign in to Foveo.app using the Family Account username and password provided by email.
- Open the livestream details.
- Locate the recording.
- Select Download beneath the video player.
- Save the MP4 file to a computer, external drive or secure cloud-storage account.
We strongly recommend that families download and safely preserve their own copy during this 90-day period. For additional instructions, see How to View or Download a Recording.
What Happens After 90 Days?
At the end of the 90-day access period, the recording is transferred to Foveo’s long-term archive. It will no longer be routinely accessible through the Family Account or funeral-home account.
Archiving does not mean the recording has been deleted. It means Foveo must retrieve and transfer it by special request.
3. Automated Messages to Guests
A. Immediately after the Broadcast Ends
Immediately after a livestream ends, the recording must be processed before it can be viewed on demand. Processing generally takes 20 minutes; however, times can vary depending on the length of the broadcast and the processing required. During this period, guests who attempt to access the recording will see the following message:
The livestream broadcast has ended.
Once processed, the recording will be available here.
B. After Guest Access expires
Once the Guest Access period selected by the funeral home has ended, the recording is no longer available to registered guests through the funeral home’s website, Foveo Broadcast Page or Tukios obituary page.
Guests who return to the page will see the following message:
Guest access to the broadcast recording has expired.
Questions? Please contact wecare@foveo.org.
Note: Expired Guest Access does not mean the recording has been deleted. The designated Family Account Holder and authorized funeral home staff may continue to view and/or download it through Foveo until the end of the 90-day period.

Guests who wish to view the recording after the Guest Access Period has expired may complete a formal request by which Foveo will contact your funeral home to coordinate approval with the next of kin.
4. Automated Messages to Family Account Holders
Foveo automatically sends email messages to the designated Family Account Holder before and during their 90-day access period. Your funeral home’s Foveo Admin will also receive archive reminder messages when a family’s routine access is about to expire.
A. When a Livestream is Scheduled
The Family Account Holder receives an email confirming that the livestream has been scheduled. This message includes:
- The livestream details;
- Information the family can share with invited guests;
- The Family Account Holder’s Foveo sign-in information; and
- Notice that the recording will be available for the family to view and download for 90 days following the broadcast.

B. After the Livestream Broadcast (Day 1)
Following the broadcast, the Family Account Holder automatically receives a thank-you email from your funeral home. The message:
- Thanks them for asking you to livestream the ceremony;
- Confirms the recording is available; and
- Reminds them to sign in to Foveo to download a personal copy before the 90-day access period ends.

C. Thirty (30) days before archiving
Thirty days before the recording is scheduled to be archived, Foveo sends the Family Account Holder and the funeral home’s Foveo Admin a reminder. The message:
- Identifies the livestream recording;
- States the date on which routine access will end;
- Explains that the recording will move to Foveo’s long-term archive;
- Encourages the family to download and preserve a personal copy; and
- Provides instructions for signing in and downloading the recording.

D. Seven (7) days before archiving
Seven days before archiving, Foveo sends the Family Account Holder and the funeral home’s Foveo Admin a final reminder. The message:
- Identifies the remaining time;
- Repeats the download instructions; and
- Advises the recording will no longer be routinely accessible through Foveo.app.

Important: These emails can only be delivered if the correct name and email address for the Family Account Holder were entered when the livestream was scheduled. Funeral homes should confirm this information before saving each new livestream.
5. How to Request an Archived Recording
An archived recording may be requested by the Family Account Holder or a representative of the funeral home acting on behalf of the family.
Please send the request to directorcare@foveo.org and include the:
- Name of the deceased;
- Name of the funeral home (and location);
- Date of the livestream;
- The requester’s name and relationship to the family or funeral home; and
- The email address to which retrieval instructions should be sent.
There is currently no charge to retrieve an archived recording. Foveo may review this policy in the future if the volume or administrative demands associated with archived-recording requests become unmanageable. Any future change will be communicated before it takes effect.
Archived-recording retrieval is not immediate and can take up to 10 business days to complete. Families should, therefore, download and safely preserve a personal copy of the recording during their 90-day access period whenever possible.
Foveo’s retrievable archive includes livestream recordings captured since September 2023.
Recordings made before September 2023 are not available.
