Pausing a Live Stream
The funeral service you are live streaming may include a private family moment, a transition or travel from chapel to graveside, or a break planned between the service and the reception afterwards. In these situations, Foveo makes it easy to temporarily pause the public broadcast for online guests.
When you pause a live stream:
- Guests will no longer see or hear the live service
- Your camera can continue running (or be turned off)
- You can manually resume the broadcast when you're ready
This guide explains how to safely pause and resume a broadcast using either:
- Foveo.App (web browser)
- DirectorView™ mobile app
Before You Begin
You must already have:
- Started your live broadcast using GO LIVE
- Access to the stream’s DIRECTOR Panel
- Your streaming camera connected and functioning properly
If you have not started your broadcast yet, please first review the:
Streaming Quick Start Guide
Option 1 — Pause a Broadcast Using Foveo.App (Recommended)
This is the easiest and most reliable method.
Step 1 — Open the DIRECTOR Panel
- Sign in to Foveo.App
- Navigate to Streams > List
- Find the desired stream
- Click the DIRECTOR button on the right side
You will now see:
- The Live Camera Feed
- The Broadcast Monitor
- Your broadcast controls
Step 2 — Locate the Pause Button
Once your stream is live, you will see two control buttons under the Broadcast Monitor:
- Pause Broadcast
- End Broadcast
Click Pause Broadcast
Step 3 — Confirm the Pause
After clicking Pause:
- The public broadcast will pause for guests
- Guests will no longer see the live ceremony
- Your camera feed may still appear inside your DIRECTOR Panel
This is normal.
Important: Pausing Does NOT Automatically Resume
The broadcast will remain paused until you manually resume it.
To continue the live stream:
- Return to the DIRECTOR Panel
- Click Resume Broadcast
Your guests will immediately continue receiving the live stream.
If You Cannot See the Resume Button
Occasionally, your browser may not immediately refresh the broadcast controls.
If this happens:
Simply refresh your browser page.
After refreshing:
- The Resume Broadcast button should appear where the Pause button was previously located.
Option 2 — Pause a Broadcast Using DirectorView™ Mobile App
You can also pause a stream remotely using the DirectorView™ app on your phone or tablet.
Step 1 — Open DirectorView™
- Sign in using your personal username and password
- Open the desired stream from the Streams tab
Step 2 — Tap Pause
Tap the Pause control inside the app.
The public broadcast will pause for guests.
Step 3 — Resume When Ready
When the service is ready to continue:
- Return to the stream controls
- Tap Resume Broadcast
Good to Know
Guests Cannot Resume the Broadcast
Only signed-in funeral home staff can resume a paused broadcast.
Your Camera Can Keep Running
Pausing the broadcast does not require you to disconnect or stop your camera.
You Can Pause More Than Once
You may pause and resume a broadcast multiple times during a service if needed.
Playing a Video During a Pause
Many funeral homes use the pause feature to:
- play tribute videos
- display slideshows
- prepare for a procession or graveside transition
To play videos during a broadcast, use the DIRECTOR Panel in Foveo.App from a web browser.
Common Situations Where Funeral Directors Pause Broadcasts
- During a private family goodbye
- During transportation between locations/before graveside services begin
- To play a tribute video as part of the broadcast
- During clergy or musician setup delays

Refresh your browser page and look for the Resume Broadcast button.

Refresh the DIRECTOR Panel page.
This safely restores:

without disrupting the live stream.
