Step-by-Step Guide
The setup only needs to be done once. Once complete, you’ll be able to stream directly from your ATEM Mini Pro video switcher to Foveo without using any additional streaming software.
1. Get the RTMP details from Foveo
In Foveo, in the left menu, navigate to Streams > IP Cameras and click on the name of your Camera.
You will see your IP Camera's RTMP URL and Stream Key. Copy that information so you can paste it into your encoder's RTMP settings. Your URL and key should not be kept private.
Note: If no IP Camera has been created, click +Create and a new camera name to create a new IP Camera.
2. Open the ATEM Mini Pro streaming settings
To add Foveo as a streaming destination, you first need to edit the ATEM Streaming.xml file.
First, close ATEM Software Control if it is open.
On Windows:
- Open File Explorer.
-
Copy and paste this into the address bar:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackmagic Design\Blackmagic ATEM Switchers\ATEM Software Control
- Press Enter.
- Find the file named Streaming.xml.
- Right-click the file and choose Open With > Notepad.
Inside the file, find an existing service block, such as the BoxCast section.
Copy the entire service block, starting with:
<service>and ending with:
</service>Scroll to the bottom of the file and paste the copied section immediately above the final line:
</streaming>Do not paste below that line.
Inside the copied section:
Replace:
<name>BoxCast</name>with:
<name>FOVEO</name>Replace the existing URL with:
<url>rtmp://v2api.foveo.app:1935/ip-camera</url>Replace the server name with:
<name>FOVEO Primary</name>Save the file. Do not use Save As.
Then reopen ATEM Software Control.
In ATEM Software Control:
- Click Output.
- Click Live Stream.
- From the Platform dropdown, choose FOVEO.
- From the Server dropdown, choose FOVEO Primary.
- Paste the Foveo Stream Key into the Key field.
- Click once outside the field so the ATEM saves the key properly.
Note: Blackmagic ATEM switchers may require the Stream Key to be entered again when using a custom streaming service.
3. Recommended vMix quality settings for Foveo
In ATEM Software Control, choose the streaming quality setting noted here:
Streaming MediumThis is the recommended setting for most funeral home internet connections.
If you are manually configuring stream settings, use:
Resolution: 1280x720
Frame rate: 30 fps
Video bitrate: 2500–3500 Kbps
Audio bitrate: 128 Kbps
Keyframe interval: 2 seconds
Video codec: H.264
Audio codec: AAC
4. Start the stream
When ready:
Confirm your camera and audio are working through the ATEM Mini Pro.
Click ON AIR in ATEM Software Control or press the ON AIR button on the ATEM Mini Pro.
The ON AIR button should turn red.
To check your stream in Foveo, open the IP Cameras panel and click on the name of the IP Camera. You will see and hear your live camera feed with a short delay.
Once confirmed, you can Start the broadcast, or Go Live for Guests, from the Foveo DIRECTOR Panel.
5. Quick troubleshooting checklist
If Foveo is not receiving the stream:
- Restart the ATEM stream after changing RTMP settings.
- Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the Stream Key.
- Confirm the Foveo service was added correctly to the Streaming.xml file.
- Confirm the RTMP URL is: rtmp://v2api.foveo.app:1935/ip-camera
- Confirm the Stream Key is pasted into the Key field.
- Click once outside the Key field so the ATEM saves the key properly.
- Make sure another encoder is not already using the same stream key.
- Confirm your internet connection's upload speed is at least double your selected streaming bitrate.
- If audio is missing, check your ATEM audio source and make sure the correct input is turned on.
